When Adding a Snorkel, Do You Modify the Exhaust?

I noticed there are threads about adding a Snorkel, but I don't see anything about the exhaust. It would seem to me if you plan to do water fording, that exhaust should be raised as well.

Why would you need to raise the exhaust? It doesn't suck up water, it expels air. The only caution is, don't stall the engine while the exhaust is submerged.

Exhausts are not necessarily sealed so water will creep into them when submerged. You need something to pump air into the exhaust to prevent back-flow if the engine stops running. There are exhaust-fording kits and electronic smog pumps that can be used but this is most likely overkill for what you are planning.

There are other considerations though, like axle breathers and re-greasing u-joints afterwords. If you plan on going really deep you will need to get a bit more serious but that will include items under the hood also since the intake, electronics, and things like dipsticks would need to be truly sealed.
