Pictures taken in the left front wheel well.
What is that sheetmetal part attached to the frame? Would it be something which had a purpose on the assembly line?

Figured it out - indeed an assembly aid. the sheetmetal plate with welded nu allows one the slide and hold that nut in the right spot within the frame during assembly.

You figured it out but I think they’re called flag nuts. Several on the JL and some aftermarket parts use them.
