I know this is a stretch, but if you don’t ask, you’ll never know… I recently bought a complete AUX switch kit (Mopar) to install in my Rubicon. Got a great deal, but found out it has the black snap-on bezel around the switches, instead of the chrome one that matches the chrome trim around the locker switches. I tried contacting Mopar, but they don’t sell that piece separately. I’m not sure I want to try any kind of faux chrome paint. So, the question is, does anyone have a good idea for plating the trim bezel, or is anyone with a non-Rubicon JL planning to buy an AUX switch kit? If so, you could order a Rubicon kit, and I would switch bezels with you. Long shot, for sure…

Just bumping this up, to get more eyes on it. I’m getting ready to install the switches, and it would be nice to get a chrome bezel..

Thanks for looking,
John

Could you return the one you purchased and purchase the correct Rubicon switches? Quadratec shows the chrome in stock, but their "guaranteed lowest price" is $70 more than allmoparparts.com. Moparonlineparts.com shows it for $331.

I've also painted a lot of interior trim pieces in several cars, and if the bezel pops off, it'll be easy to paint to match the rest of your trim.

Thanks, JABCAT,
I bought the kit from an individual, so returning isn’t an option. I only paid $150, and the kit is complete and brand new, so if I have to live with a black bezel, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

With respect to painting it, what product would you recommend? The bezel clips off easily.

Thanks,
John

Re: painting, any paint (krylon, rustoleum, etc.) that is specific to plastics. Krylon Fusion All in One is what I have been using recently with really good results on a variety of projects. You could also use adhesion promotor if you wanted, but on a piece that size and that won't be under direct contact all the time it's probably not needed. Test spray something else to compare to your current trim to ensure the color-match is to your liking. Lightly scuff the piece up with some sand paper then spray a couple coats of your selected paint. Follow the instructions on the can re: dry time between coats and before handling, etc.

Here’s a couple examples of pieces from my Corvette all "rattle-canned" as they say.
