Voltage Differences

Why do you think my test of voltage at the main battery's terminals would read 12.5V, but 12.0V in the instrument cluster when pressing the start button twice without hold down the brake, so as to not crank the engine?

The battery has a load on it in your second scenario - the instrument cluster, etc. What does it say at the terminals when you have it in “run?”

Anyway, I’d put more faith in a multimeter than the IBS readout on the dash.

Well said Sir....I use the EVIC display as a reference but thats it but mine is currently on a charger so I figured I would compare, both my batteries are connected and current meter read while on a charger reads 12.85 but EVIC display is 12.7 and as stated by @OldGuyNewJeep there is a drop you get from the display and a few other things just getting the dash info so it’s best to read directly off the battery
