How does everyone approach their video editing for footage taken on the trail? I have 7-8 hours of footage that I need to edit down into something that's presentable. This is only for personal use (showing family and friends) and not for a YouTube channel or anything like that.

I've never worked with this amount of footage and it's been 20 years since I've done any video editing. I have access to iMovie, but have no experience using it.

Focus on the highlights, moments that tell the best story or capture something memorable. Since you’re using iMovie, you’ll find it pretty intuitive once you start playing around with trimming clips and adding transitions. Just keep it simple, you don’t need a lot of effects for personal videos.

One thing I found super helpful is to watch the footage at a faster speed and mark timestamps of important parts, so you don’t waste time re-watching everything. You can also use tools like https://www.screencapture.com/ if you need to grab specific moments or screenshots from your footage. It saves a ton of time when you want to show certain highlights quickly.
