Hello! I am finally about to replace my fender flares with some high-top ones. I'm in the process of buying/collecting everything I'll need to complete my project without having to stop midway. I really haven't messed with much electrical so it's fairly new to me.
I'll be doing a "half" chop (keeping the bottom trim and cutting just a bit at the front flare/liner) and installing a low profile sequential LED chop kit (I'm thinking of using Infinite Off-road's). I also will be adding some sequential fender vent LEDs as well. For the vent light add on, I was going to buy these https://a.co/d/02T3u9aD that were recommended in a different thread.
I currently have halogens, so I was going to get the items needed to run the Jscan app. I am not familiar with Jscan or any other 3rd party modification tool. I have been reading so much about this process and I just want to have somebody verify that I'm understanding the steps correctly.
So, essentially, from what I've gathered, after I put on the new flares and chop bracket/light, then I use butt connectors for the vent LEDs with the linked harness BUT I should then pause and get into the Jscan app to change the settings before I connect the plug to the factory input harness- correct?
One random thing I'm a little confused on is that the fender vent lights I bought only have three wires, and one is a black ground. The linked harness above has three off-shoots. Which ones do I need to connect to? The vent lights should have white lights all the time until I do the turn signal - then they should turn amber and have a sequential "blink" - once the turn signal is off, they go back to white.
Outside of that, I found these setting suggestions for the front DRLs and LEDs and want to be sure they are the same settings even if I'm not doing factory lights? Meaning, since I'll be using a chop kit light, will the Jscan settings still apply?
Lastly, I already installed some Oracle flush mounted taillights a while ago but used the included resistor. Now that I'll have the Jscan app after this current project, would it be recommended to take them out, delete the resistor and change the settings to LED taillights? If so, would anyone know exactly which setting with Jscan I would need to change for that as well? Or point me to where something similar to the above screenshot could be found?
Thank you! Responses are appreciated!
