I was looking into buying a cell booster when I had the idea of moving the antenna for the Uconnect from the sound bar to a mast and seeing if I got any increase in LTE range when off the beaten path.

Has anyone attempted to do this? I was thinking of using an adapter to change the fakra connector into something more standard like SMA and then to an external antenna with better gain on a foldable mast that can be deployed when needed.

Is it so you can have better uConnect WiFi hotspot service?
Or what else do you use the uConnect LTE for?

I've noticed while traveling that the Uconnect gets slightly better service on the fringes than my phone. I was hoping to increase that without the cost and time to buy and install a WeBoost or something similar.

Also thank you to whomever moved this to the correct forum.

@AaronJLU , did you ever find an answer to this question?

I’m currently installing sound deadener (Kilmat) on my hardtop, and I either need to leave a section with no sound deadener (so it doesn’t deaden the LTE signal), or I thought this could be a good time to just run a new cable and external antenna - if I thought I could get an improved signal.
