Seems as though it depends on who you speak to as to whether or not this feature works? I have called uconnect a few times and they had difficulties getting AT&T on the line and told me to call back. When I called back, they told me feature was not available yet? I have tried connecting a device but the network name does not even appear as an option. Does anyone have any concrete info that may help?

I’ll have to look at my screen when I get home, but in your WiFi setup, you have the name to show and what security encryption are you using in the Uconnect setup

Where did you find the 6-month, 3GB trial period information? I see 3-month 1GB.

https://myvehicle.att.com/lpportal-2/#/jeep/learn

Awesome! But they will probably bill you, haha

Fyi, I found this:

New vehicles come equipped with a complimentary 6-month trial period that includes up to 3GB of data.
The trial period ends when 3GB is used or after 6 months, whichever comes first.
After the trial period, contact AT&T to purchase these available plans.

Yes, my 2018 JL had a Hotspot WiFi under the uConnect apps (warning...I talk about "apps" below). I think this may only be in the infotainment package, but others can chime in if I am wrong! Click on (default configuration) the very center where the uConnect icon is on your head unit. It takes some careful searching, but it's buried in that mess. Now if you already swapped "apps" on the default bottom row, that's a different story. Mine are still in default and I've not pinned my preferences to the bottom row yet.

On the Mopar owner site you will need to find a link, it has to pair your VIN with a user name to determine eligibility.

Some things have changed, this is serviced by AT&T and they only gave me 1 GB data, but it's good for a 3 month trial. You can change the "router" name in your vehicle (default is obnoxious) and I made the password (default is obnoxious) the same as the house (if the password isn't legal the "OK" won't flick green). You also can't change the router name (sorry for using the term router, but I think most will relate to the hardware that way) if you have it enabled, remember that ok? You have to disable in order to change names and password!!!!! Once it's set, this can be enabled.

Critical info:
No credit card required for trial. You will create an AT&T account if you didn't have one, maybe you can go back and add data or add the Jeep under an existing data plan. They aren't my cell vendor so don't know. I see a mobile share plan for $10/mo listed so I would imagine you AT&T people can do this economically!

There's no streaming app for music on the head unit (again, I am not a JK person so maybe they used to have Pandora as an app)?..... I don't see it now. They moved conceptually from apps on the head unit to apps on the phone. The only "apps" (they still use the term) are really screen buttons for vehicle tasks. Sort of a play on words really. Again, my guess so pipe in here if I am wrong.

Main uses are for an iPad or non phone device. Utility is limited, not much use if you are BT streaming or wired in with CarPlay or Android Auto.

I did this mainly as proof of concept. We have grandkids that might use it. I don't know..

I must be lucky because mine is still working (as of last week) and I’ve never had to contact AT&T yet. Now I will use it for my dash cam so I can check in on the Jeep from time to time so when AT&T says I have to start paying, I’ll do it in a minute.

Good for you! I think XM was that way too. The dealer had it running off the lot and just said it was good for a year. I had to set up Guardian though. Did you try that? It's free for a year and worth playing with. I doubt I'll keep it but it's cool to see the air pressures on my phone. No credit card, but they got my phone and email.

Yes, was poking around on AT&T site:

The plan options include: a standalone unlimited plan with unlimited data at $20/month, an add-on to a vehicle with an existing Mobile Share Value or Advantage plan to receive 1 GB of data for $10/month, a day pass of 250MB for $5, and of course a trial version of AT&T Wi-Fi for those uncertain about signing up.

When I enter my VIN for my JL into the website I get a message saying that this feature will be coming to your jeep soon. What gives?

Ok, this is weird, mine always said soon AND it didnt work, like some others. I just tried again and it worked. I havent been out to the Jeep to test, but something changed in the last 24 hours. Ive had the Jeep since 3/17 and immediately set up U Connect and Guardian. Not sure why it takes three weeks for this to activate when others are immediate. But who cares! I got mine... haha

I think that has to do with Sirius. They had me reset my unit and it took 3 days for it to come back. Sirius said oh in 24 hours it will be back..... but I can say it has been stable since the reset.

The other thing you need is the LTE antenna in your jeep to be able to enable the wifi hotspot and get a signal.
