I'm very interested. I've got the Sport with the basic HVAC and no power windows/locks and 5" screen.

I've heard you need the upgraded HVAC to control the volume... is this true? Or did I read something incorrectly?

As long as I can change the volume with the steering wheel controls, it should work for me.

I was in the same boat with my Willys Sport. You won't have volume control with a knob, but the steering controls work fine. You will lose the compass if yours doesn't have Sirius already though, just an FYI.
