I've got the 7" screen so attaching a front facing camera directly to the UConnect system isn't an option. I wanted a front facing camera for the Moab trip after hearing about how often you lose sight of the trail from the windshield. I found this solution just junking around on Amazon and it works perfectly for me since I had a good old phone laying around not being used. $40 dollar front trail camera solution if you have an old phone and a phone mount laying around.

This camera (hit the link). I power it off of a switch so that it is not always hot. The camera, when powered, runs its own wi-fi network that I have the old phone set up to immediately pair to.

Looks like this on my winch fairlead light mount (between the lights). Your mounting solution may/will be different. Mounted here, I can see from straight down at the bumper to the horizon.

Looks like this in the Jeep. The phone mounted just above and left of the UConnect screen is wi-fi connected to the trail camera and is showing what is directly in front of the Jeep.

Hello,

That's a nice setup. Is there a camera app that connects and records? I, too, am looking for a downward-facing camera to better see the obstacles because the OEM Trail Cam is pretty useless when trying to read the trail. Is there any camera control? (Zoom In/Out, Pan?)
Any additional information would be helpful. Thanks so much!

The camera has an app the runs on the old phone to view the camera and record video or stills.
