Just read this interesting article about how the Home Depot is going to sell tiny homes. I've been eyeing them for a couple years and really think they're cool. I've even been considering buying one. Here in Detroit they have a small community so to speak of them varying styles, shapes, and sizes.

Just curious what are you alls thoughts on them? Do you live in one? If so would you recommend it, love it hate it what you think? Or have you stayed in one?

Here's the article incase you want to see ⬇

Some of the commentary on these say that in the long run, after you assemble just the skeleton then need to do all the trade work the cost isn't worth it. Best to talk to someone in the construction trades to get an idea on real cost.

You're just getting the framing in steel, and for $43k +tax, that really isn't that great of a bargain on a 540sqft house frame.

I went to a tiny house cook-out in Moab. There were 6 of us and we were definitely bumping into each other. I see them as vacation homes for couples with no kids. Or fishing shacks.

As someone who is building a skoolie. I think that makes more sense when you have to build it out anyway. Just buy a bus.

I don’t know about the value of the Home Depot product, but I do think there’s a value to a smaller house. I’ve had some pretty big homes in my life, but in 2019 we decided to go small (relatively 1100 sqf) and would never want to go larger. If we do another it will be even smaller.

I always been interested in these but zoning pretty much cancels out all ideal locations and I don’t want to live near trailer park people.
