I’m thinking about picking up some ko2 take offs. What do you guys think of the tread that is left. I’m completely new to the idea of buying used tires.

Spend $2 on a tread depth gauge. Measure the tread depth all the way across the tread to see 1) how much usable tread is left and 2) if the tread wear is even.

Most sizes of that tire have a tread depth of 15/32 when new. Replace tires below 4/32. So determine how much of the usable 11/32 is left to determine how much they’re worth to you. In my experience most people selling used tires grossly overestimate how much usable life is left in the tires they’re offering.

Good call, thanks for the info. I’m wary of buying used tires.

There are a ton of like new (still 15/32 tread) takeoffs for sale right now off of Rubicons moving up to 35s right now. Those look like they’ve been around the block. Several times. Unless they’re dirt cheap you can probably find a better value.

He is asking 400 for them but I know it will add up with the price of them being installed

Go to the BFG website and find the specifications for that tire size and see what the factory tread depth was brand new. Then measure it to compare how much of that you have left. You might be able to drive a tire down to 2/32 legally, but it's really going to suck on anything but dry pavement below like 6/32.

I myself would never buy a used tire unless it was a basically brand new takeoff. You don't know where it's been, and what damage it's taken that you might not see.
