I just put my order in for a 2024 Sahara last week and was very happy that I could order it with a V6. So I started wondering.... out of all of the 2024 orders placed by individual buyers, how many are gas powered and how many are plug-in hybrids.

If the number of gas powered orders far exceed the number of 4xe's being ordered, to me that is a possible indicator that the majority of us prefer gas powered.....or vice versa if the 4xe is on top.

Anyone have any idea on the number breakdown for orders by individual buyers for 2024?

Or should I spend my time doing more productive things instead of thinking about crap like this. :)

Jeep reported that for Q1, the PHEVs were 38% of Wrangler sales.

Consider that's probably skewed in favor of the EVs since there are states that have adopted the CARB standards and are making it hard/inconvenient to find gas-only in their states.

I'm sure there are plenty that think the hybrids are great, but IMHO it's just asking for issues from known ICE reliability and immature EV tech.

Also comes with duping the unsuspecting buyer into buying a gas guzzler thinking it's "efficient".

Jeep Wrangler 4xe accounted for 42% (17,662 units) of total Wrangler sales in the second quarter.

I would say that number is skewed. In the spring all gas/transmission options were unavailable. With the exception of the Rubicon the 4xe was the only thing you could order. Dealers were pushing them, heck I kept getting emails asking if I would be interested in a 4xe.

Who ordered one compared to dealers ordering for stock would be a more realistic number.

When shopping around Southern California dealers for an Unlimited X all they had on the lot were 4xes. One salesman told me that Jeep was only shipping 4xes to California. He also said the 4xes were not selling, so you could probably get a good deal on one. I had to order My Wrangler.

Have to think about the tax rebate for the 4XE's driving sales as well. I know you specifically mentioned the 2024's, and there is still the tax credit it just isn't as cut and dry to use as it was before they changed the tax code, at least in the US. But that wasn't a benefit for the ICE's.

I’ve been getting about 1000 miles per fill up because it fits my driving pattern, and free charging at work. It’s not for everyone.
Seems some people get the impression the 4xe is just another gas Wrangler with 49mpg, some others think it should drive more electric range than it should, some people are pissed about it going into FORM, mainly because it does not suit their driving habits, some get a shock the mpg is guzzling territory etc.

The marketing materials tend to be misleading and seems the sales people are also misleading people as to what the 4xe is.

I have no issues with the 4xe, I think it's the best Wrangler I've ever owned.

I filled up 4x for 2023 until Jeep warned some of us not to charge the 4xe.

Respectfully, maybe the former. :)

Between the restricted vehicle shipping to those states that have adopted CARB standards, and the public assistance scheme serving as a carrot to induce sales, any claims of market preference for the 4xe are hopelessly polluted.

Do you often go fishing on weekdays? You’re basically fishing in a stocked pond using dynamite. If you want to hear only the answer you want to hear, congratulations!

An enthusiast forum is the very last place to ask for non-biased opinions about anything, and doubly so for anything hybrid or electric on a Jeep forum, more specifically. The truth is, most people buying wranglers nowadays probably have no concern for or understanding of the differences in the 3.6 or 2.0, and may or may not care about it being a hybrid or not.

They are just shopping for aesthetics and a monthly payment. I would argue that most people who get the 4XE don’t even plug it in and just enjoy much better city mileage and a lot more power than your 3.6 and otherwise treat it like a petrol Jeep while they drive around the mall.

Jeeps as a whole tend to have reliability issues if the numbers are to be believed, and most people just take them to the dealership to fix it, 4XE or otherwise. Even though Jeeps are notoriously lacking in QC, even with the brand’s reputation, most won’t have any major mechanical or other problems. You only hear about horror stories on forums but for the vast majority they will just get regular service and live their lives. A few will have issues, hybrid or not, and the dealership will just fix it. The end.
