Does anyone have some information on the Sherpa JLU QDHD. This thing looks a little interesting. One it looks relatively simple to install compared to some and gives you a pretty nice roof rack weight rating. But being the odd duck that I am, I still have questions about it. I see you can run the rack with or without the roof, but do you get supplied plugs to cap the holes if the rack isn't on? Any information would be great.

I don't know anything about this Sherpa QDHD but it looks very similar to the tyger auto roof rack I have been using. I can offer some feedback on how that rack works in case it's helpful.

It has a nice low profile so can fit into low parking garages or under the occasional low hanging tree better than bulkier options.

Taking it off or on is easy, but still requires a half hour of work and tools so not exactly convenient either.

The tyger one does not work with the roof off, and removing the hard top also requires taking off the roof rack first, so switching to / from topless is quite a bit of effort.

Aluminum extrusion cross members makes it lightweight and still strong with less rust. It's easy to attach random things using standard tnut fasteners. The aluminum crossbars wobble a bit with heavy loads in the middle but it feels solid enough.

Driving around topless with a bunch of stuff overhead seems like it may not be too much fun. It really depends on your load, route, mission, etc.. though. A wet kayak will drip onto your seats. If you have a ratchet strap flapping around someone may get hit by it. Road noise goes up.

I can imagine that it would be perfect for the right trip in the right conditions.
