The garage door opener buttons (2023 Rubicon) are built into the driver's side sun visor, right? I can't find any photos of them. I'm picturing them as huge and intrusive -- I hope I'm wrong. Is there wiring involved, or does it have its own battery?

I'm wondering if I'll be able to swap out the visor when I get my JL. I'm not a fan of the buttons for a few reasons. I know the visor also has a mirror, which I'd rather not have. And I was told the visor mirrors are lighted, so I'm guessing there's some minor wiring involved anyway.

On the other side, has anyone programmed their garage door buttons to do other functions? Like turning on house lights, adjusting (home) thermostats, etc? In the info I was able to find, it sounds like those things are possible. But it also seems like it might not be a smart home device, but more of a replacing-a-remote feature.

Here's a pic I took after removing the visor warning decals. The buttons are hardwired to the Jeep, and so are the vanity mirror LED's.

I don't find them to be at all clunky. They actually hide in plain sight, and I actually forgot about them until seeing this thread.

How easily did the decals come off? Any advice for doing it?

It was a pita process. It requires a just right amount of heat from a heat gun or blow dryer. The vinyl on the visors was stretching so much while slowly peeling the decal off, that I was surprised they survived.

The company, and forum sponsor, pixeldecals.com has blackout decals specifically for covering the visor decals. I'd probably go that route, if I had to do it again.

Thank you! For some reason I was expecting them to be on the "mirror side" of the visor, but I guess it makes more sense where they are. It's also nice to know they probably won't be as intrusive as I thought, since you don't really notice yours anymore.

Found another pic that shows the whole driver's area of the cabin. Those visor buttons really do hide in plain sight, until you're specifically looking for them.

Or you could do this… that I just installed. Slips on. I have a little glass breakout/seat belt cutter, copy of registration, a pen, a couple business cards, a few bucks emergency cash. Note pics on install before adding sh!t.
Those are pretty cool! Good look + practicality. I remember having a smaller thing similar to that to hold CDs when I was a "kid."
