Not to add salt to the wound, but how long did you drive it with the fuel light on?
If it works like a regular gas vehicle you have roughly 50 miles before you actual run out of gas when the fuel light comes on.
Yeah it came on and I was monitoring it because it came on around 50 miles to go and I saw it go down to 31 and checked my GPS and I was 26 miles from home so figured I should be able to get home. There's a gas station next to my house so the plan was to go straight there.

So after it got below 30 miles left, the counter went off and just said low fuel. Again I figured I had about 5 miles to spare at least. But somewhere along the way maybe I sped up more than I should have and burned it off.

When I was about 2 miles from home, I got the red turtle and it basically put it in limp so I figured I can just roll to gas station but after a mile it then shut me down.

So morale of the story, even if it says you have 30 miles left, that may not be accurate as it may consume more without you realizing it.

Will say my other vehicles even when 30 miles comes on, I've easily squeezed out 35 to get home so thought there was a buffer with the Jeep. But guess I learned my lesson the hard way

Been other reports of the same with the fuel indicator. I'm going to monitor level with odb2 when I get low to see if still registers there. But I have 800 miles on this tank, it's taking forever.

The same youtube guy did one where he ran out of gas, then electricity to see what would happen. Basically the same experience, although it won't let you take the battery down below 30% and no gas. No fuel and a depleted HV battery would put you in a bad situation where the engine couldn't start.

He also had to add extra gas to get it to reset.

Are you talking about this video? This was close to my experience except that my hybrid battery was also done.

I do appreciate all the zero means zero posts we have been seeing. Used to manufacturers putting in a safety factor.

Yes, that video.

I suspect your situation may be more common for people on long trips. Not many will run out at full battery.
