The V6's laggy throttle response was absolutely unignorable after I had three proper test drives in three JLUs (two with autos and one with the third pedal.) I then configured my factory order with the 2.0T sight- and test-drive unseen. The wisdom of my choice is validated every time I drive the vehicle. We actually drove a 3.6 w/eTorque and didn’t even realize it until you brought this to my attention. Compared to the 4 banger turbo it seemed anemic.
I've since read suggestions on this forum that the Pentastar's tuning, in particular the underwhelming throttle response, is an effort by the engineers to get as close to desired EPA figures as possible. I'm not confirming or denying the accuracy of what forum members have said here, but I will agree that it makes sense. The 2.0T needs no such fiddling, since there's two less mouths to feed, with the collateral effect on average fuel mileage.
Possibly a throttle controller would address the aforementioned for those owners who are concerned with the relaxed nature of the V6. I've installed the X9 on my Jeep, and the multiple programs make the 2.0T even more fun than I thought it could be.
