Hey ya’ll. I’m new to posting on forums though I usually seek advice from them. I previously owned a JK for 11 years. It finally started giving me too many issues that I couldn’t fix myself so I decided to trade it in and get a new one. I recently purchased a 2020 JL. The day I purchased it, it was complete downpour which did not let me per a thorough check as I would’ve liked to. The next morning, I noticed it makes a strange ticking noise from the engine when I started. It last about a minute or two before it goes away I believe I located where the noise is coming from. However, I could be wrong. I am unfamiliar with this part has anybody experienced this or does anyone have any feedback. I will greatly appreciate it. Please see video posted Thank you!

3.6L engines have had issues with the ticking and it is a serious problem with the cams and lifters. Get it checked out right away.

That's a 2.0 turbo guys not a 3.6. If the sound is coming from that area you are pointing to you could have bad turbo bearings brewing. How many miles on the engine? How is the engine power?

Dang. Just spoke to a bud of mine who also has the 4 banger turbo and he said his makes that noise too. My previous engine was 3.6 could this be something affiliated with the turbo? I can only hope? Anyone else experience this?
most likely bad cam and lifters

Thank you for your input.

Thanks got your reply. Only 22k miles. Engine power is great. Actually run cleaner and picks up better than my previous 3.6.

Look in the 2.0 engine forum. Many people report having this sound. I think a few times it was fixed by replacing the turbo, because the wastegate actuator arm was loose. I have a 2.0 and she sounds like a little diesel when starting. It calms down after a minute or two. I have 80K on mine and it sounded like that since she was brand new.

Appreciate your response! I’ve been hearing the same feedback as I look into this more.
