Florida Steering column too Short 90 YJ

I recently was told by a neighborhood mechanic to get a new steering column because mine was shot. I bought a brand new one but it was only 28 in so it's too short, my question is is there any sort of 4-in steering column extension adapter or do I need to buy a whole new steering column?
