I have a 2021 JLUR with an AEV 3" lift, 35" tires and original brake lines. I have read the threads on soft brake pedal, specifically the one by Willys41 (Wrangler Mushy Brake Syndrome) and how to force the ABS pump to activate during brake bleed. Not having the scanner and not wanting to invest in one, I had my local mechanic bleed my brakes (actually replace the brake fluid) and force the ABS pump to rectify my soft pedal. All good. For 3 months.
After parking on a mere 14 degree side slope in a parking lot, my JLUR reported an ABS light momentarily on startup. No codes. But my soft brake pedal returned requiring a double-pump during normal driving. Also, sitting more than a day, I may have a hard pedal on "push brake to start" that goes to the floor after the engine starts. Once again, my local mechanic bled my brakes with ABS pump activation to correct the problem.
The soft brake pedal condition has onset twice, both during on-road driving. My mechanic does not know the cause and has consulted the local Jeep dealer who also could not identify cause. Any thoughts why this problem has recurred? Air is entering the system, but how and where? Thanks!
