Does anyone have experience with the Meyer snowplow using a front end hitch? Or does anyone have suggestions? This will my first winter in SE Minnesota and I have an easement drive that I am responsible for snow maintenance for a third of the drive. TIA!

I’ve been looking at plows for a JL to replace my 1998 3/4 ton w/plow that recently gave up the ghost. My truck was purchased for our family business and the business was sold years ago. I only used the truck/plow now for our small farm and family driveways so Iā€˜m not looking for another 3/4 ton truck. I want something a bit shorter and easier to maneuver. Since I’m in the market for another Wrangler I have been looking at literature for plows also. I have looked at the front hitch mount type of plow and I don’t like the idea unless it’s being used for very light duty. That’s a lot of force on a small area especially if you’re pushing heavy wet snow. I’m considering a Boss or Western light duty plow with a 7’ blade. I’m leaning toward the Western because some of the mount parts can be removed by pulling a pin for extra ground clearance. If anyone else has dealt with plows on a JL I would like to hear what you have to say. Maybe even a dealer that follows these threads can help.

I have a dedicated snowplow cause my driveway is a block long...
I can also plow large swatches across my lawn without tearing it up so my dogs have a place to poop...

That little box in the back is a hitch mounted UTV " seed" spreader that works well for a sand spreader when I need it...

I'm in a similar situation except I don't have mine on a UTV. I modified a Meyers plow that I had on my 74 Chevy 3/4 ton so that it would fit on my TJ. I plow my driveway and a couple of my neighbor's drives with it.

Did you modify your front springs? Do you add any extra weight in the rear?

I did buy some, basically, bigger bump stops that are for supporting overload like this. But they are a pain to put in and take out, so most of the time I just use the plow without them because our snow is infrequent. Don't add anything extra to the back.

I use the Plowser, it's designed for residential use and it is good for that. I would not buy it if in Minnesota or some place that gets tons of snow. The weight builds up fast and you can do a lot of damage. But if I get more the. 4 inches, I do 10 feet and push it to the side and then another 10 etc, it’s pretty good. Not as fast as I’d like, and I go pretty slow.

for a couple of inches it’s great.
