just a quick question if you have an 8000lb pull winch with rope and you use a snatch block would that give you 16000lb of pulling power if so, would the rope hold up to that on a warn winch?

You also have double the line. So, yes.

Yes, I know I have double the line but it's still the same line that was rated for 8000lbs or is the rope rated for 16000lbs, thanks

An easy way to think about it is imagining the load suspended by the rope (bearing in mind vehicle recovery gear isn't designed/rated for vertical lifting). So, if one length of rope can suspend 8,000 lbs, two lengths of the same rope can suspend 8,000 lbs each, or 16,000 lbs total.

But remember, the load on the block (and whatever is anchoring it) and on the combined vehicle attachment points (e.g. the bumper) is then 16,000 lbs.

Another thing I would say is, I would not using a snatch block thinking I could pull double the load my winch is rated for.

This technique is used to trade speed for less bearing on the motor in certain situations, or you want to have a more controlled speed

Exactly. Don't attempt a 16k lb pull with a sub-6k lb Jeep and an 8k lb winch; if a pull is 16k lbs, reassess, dig, stack, jack, get help, etc.

A block is good for halving winch load on a sub-8k lb pull, or preventing recovery vehicle slipping while pulling a stuck vehicle.

Also consider, if the cable isn’t rated for the double load, your weak point is on the back side of your snatch block. You have double the cable in all places but there.
