You would be correct in your spelling sir. "Smoky" would be used to describe a smoke filled place, or the appearance of smoke, (precisely why the Great Smoky Mountains were so named).Andy, I am from Tennessee and have looked too many times to admit. I always use Smoky Mountains now and believe it to be the way I will continue to spell it! I love your trip/post. Great job!!!
I also love the Rock House. Linville and the whole area are great. Great trails going everywhere in the area.
