Wondering if anyone is using the HD Pivot Carrier for bracket reinforcement and a spare tire carrier? I'm looking at this option as well as the CavFab one.
It seems both have some downsides, particularly when it comes to easily removing the spare tire. Both require relocating the license plate, but since I have the factory bumper installed, I would likely prefer to keep my plate in its current location.
The Smittybilt relocates the third brake light and includes a camera extension, whereas the CavFab does not. If I wanted to keep the camera close to the factory position with the CavFab, I would need an LOD relocation kit. Additionally, the CavFab does not include a third brake light option, so I would need to purchase an aftermarket solution.
Another consideration is that the CavFab requires powder coating, which adds to the overall cost. It seems like the total cost of the CavFab setup would be higher than the Smittybilt once all necessary parts and modifications are factored in.
I’m not entirely sure about all my assumptions, so if anyone has insights or experience with either of these options, I’d appreciate the feedback. I’m running 37" tires, so my main concern is ensuring the hitch brackets are stable.
