I've been getting about 1 letter every other week from SiriusXM telling me that my SiriusXM Guardian service is expiring on June 18th, 2020.

Now I purchased the Jeep off a dealer lot here in Ontario, Canada on November 30th, 2019 and physically picked it up on December 4th 2019. The day I picked it up is also the day my sales person sat with me and went through every feature on the Jeep and helped me set up the SiriusXM services (XM Radio and Guardian), Bluetooth phone pairing, and garage door opener.

Today I decided to call the folks at SiriusXM and ask why I keep getting letters telling me that my free trial period for the XM Guardian service is expiring on June 19th 2020 instead of either November 29th 2021 or December 3rd, 2021.

Anyone want to guess what the nice lady at Sirius told me?

She said the trial period start date is the date that either the dealer or first owner of the vehicle used the service for the first time. I explained to her that I was the first and only owner of the vehicle and that none of the SiriusXM services were even set up until I physically picked up the Jeep on December 4th 2019.

She insisted that the XM Guardian service was set up on June 19th 2019, which is utter BS, because the Jeep had 195 km's on the odometer when I picked it up, and 30 of those 195 km's were from my test drive.

She then proceeds to tell me I could purchase one of their packages to continue my service, $33.98/month for the Convenience and Security package, or $17.99/month the Assist package.

I chuckled, thanked her for her time and explanation, and told her she could actually cancel the XM Guarian trial service right now and that I definitely would not be renewing it at any price.

Sounds like someone took it for a test drive, "tested" the sirius, then the dealership somehow reset the radio so it looks new.

Was the jeep sitting on the dealers lot on the date Sirius claims it was activated? I wonder if there's any way to find out

I thought about this possibility, but I've read on this forum and others that getting an activated SiriusXM account transferred to someone else is next to impossible.

According to the VIN sticker in the door jam, the build date for my Jeep is March 2019, so it was sitting on their lot for probably 8-9 months before I bought it.

Unfortunately the dealer group (Go Auto) that owns the dealership where I bought my Jeep has closed both the sales and service departments at virtually all their locations in the Toronto and surrounding area until the Covid-19 crisis is over.

I would think the dealership would need to purchase the additional months for you since it is a documented perk with the sale of the car.

My Jeep was built July 18 and I purchased it Nov 18. The financial guy was the one that contacted SXM for my 1 year free and it end one year after the purchase. I think your dealer is the only one with the leverage to correct the situation.

Definitely going to give that a shot once the dealership opens up again.

I agree. The rep I spoke to at SiriusXM didn't really give a damn. All she wanted me to do was sign up for a full plan.

I plan on calling them as soon as they open again. Right now every dealership under their umbrella is closed do to Covid-19.

The entire world is now open (and getting sick again) but Ontario isn't open? Here my Jeep dealer was open all during. Service was considered an essential service and sales was allowed with separation standards and limited access at one time. But Americans are barbarians so as long as the maple syrup continues to flow south I guess it is ok.

The dealership group that I bought my Jeep from (Go Auto) made the decision on March 24th to temporarily close all their locations, both sales and service. There are other Jeep / FCA dealers that I can go to for service or warranty work if I need it, but the issue with the Sirius Guarian trial is something that I think my sales person or someone at the dealership that I bought the Jeep from is going to need to sort out.

As for Ontario being open for business, the Golden Horseshoe area including Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area are still in what they call Phase 1 where only essential services are allowed to operate. Restaurants can offer pick up and take out service but no dining in, no hair cuts, even most government offices are still closed.

The rest of Ontario moved to Phase 2 today and that allowed many more businesses to open up again as long as they follow specific health and safety measures like supplying gloves, hand sanitizer and face masks to customers. People still need to keep 6 feet apart while shopping or standing in line.

LOL about Americans being Maple Syrup consuming barbarians..............I'll happily send any American a gallon of Maple Syrup if they can get me my missing 6 months of XM Guardian

As a follow-up to my initial rant about SiriusXM Guardian......Literally one day after I told the folks at SiriusXM that the could cancel my Guardian subscription, I started getting daily calls from SiriusXM trying to get me to renew my Guardian subscription. No change in pricing, they still want either $17.99/month for the Assist package, or $33.98/month for the Convenience and Security package.

After taking their call three times and saying no three times to their renewal offer, I've now blocked their number (1-888-219-5593). My phone shows that number has been blocked a total of 5 times now.
