Anyone have any side step recommendations? I'm looking for something that can be bolted onto my existing Rubicon rock rails, and easily be taken off for wheeling. AR Racing makes a nice set, but I would have to take out a second mortgage to afford them.

MORE has a spring one that has a quick disconnect. They’re on sale this weekend, but still not cheap.

I have the MORE step on my passenger side for my wife. It’s a bit of a pain to take off when the pins get rusty, but it works and she likes it and I don’t have to look at it.

another recommendation for the M.O.R.E. side step:

I tried not to get these for 8 months because I initially thought they were sort of expensive. I bought others first, including sliders with a step platform. Wish I had just bought the M.O.R.E. first.

For side-step use (for a shorter passenger), having something that lowers the height of that first step is the key advantage. Any slider that does that is too low for my purposes since it will decrease clearance. ). A slider step does not decrease clearance gives you a step platform at 22-24" at least for that step up, which is no help if someone actually needs step-up help into your Jeep.

I used a couple steps that were removable and I'd keep them in the back. Those got annoying to use, took time, were easy to forget to use or remove, and my shorter passengers didn't like having to get my help with it each time. Not good.

The M.O.R.E. side step makes that first step about 14" for my Rubicon on 35s, and the second step is about 10". Perfect for easy stepping up.

The spring-loaded design keeps the step very close up to the RockRails. For most practical purposes, they're flush to the Rock Rails, and unless you expect to scrape the Rock Rails you won't need to removed them. They do remove without tools though for true rock crawling where your rock rails will scrape along.
