So I had something interesting happen to me at lunch today. After sitting in the Jeep just on AUX for a while at lunch I started it up and the RPM's started climbing without me touching the pedal. Not in a climb-to-idle kind of way, but a feels-like-someone-has-the-pedal-floored kind of way. It got to about 5000 RPM before I hit the On/start button to kill the Jeep; luckily it shut right off.

Very odd... any thoughts? I'm just happy it didn't do that as I was driving it!

2018 JLU Rubicon, ~2900 miles, purchased June 1st. I did put an AfE intake in it a few weeks ago but besides that it's bone stock.
Thanks!

@Timmybung

I was talking a non tuner lets say programmer like the Tazer JL.

The programmer for the JL, has Winch Mode which is a live feature and it can be inadvertently triggered.

In a past forum post you expressed interest in the Tazer JL so I thought just maybe, you were running a programmer.

Winch Mode:
With the engine running, press the left arrow and cruise RES buttons at the same time.
The engine will rise to 2000 RPM. There may be a few seconds delay before it changes. It will NOT raise
if you touch the accelerator pedal, and will cancel if you do.

Weird. RPMs are usually limited to 3000 in park and neutral.

I agree. If it went upto 5000 rpm while sitting, the OP wouldn't be this calm about it. But the rpm did rise... and if it is not because of a shoe or something resting against the pedal, could it be a cruise control issue?

Have an appointment this week with the dealer to check it out; hopefully they can identify and fix the issue.

Hi Timmybung,
I'm glad to see that you are having your dealer look into this. If you would like an extra assistance while your Jeep as being serviced, you can send us a private message and we would be happy to help.

Dealer didn't find anything, said they "updated engine management software".
Fingers are crossed that this never happens while the vehicle is in motion!

Anyone else had this happen to them? Without running a programmer or accidentally setting it to the winch mode of 2000rpm not the 5000rpm as Timmybung had stated?

Apologies for the "resurrection".
Interesting. Climbed in ours tonight. Started it. Feet on clutch and brake. As soon as it fired, it redlined (or damn near.) Nothing anywhere near the gas pedal.
Hope it doesn't happen again. Was there a resolution for yours?
