Hi, is it completely unsafe to attach factory crossbars to the gutters on the freedom panel?? Just trying to spread mine out a little further instead of attacking both bars to the rear top, would just be carrying a roof box, probably less then 100lbs,
Thanks!

Not completely unsafe… but somewhat unsafe I would definitely say. I wouldn’t want to put a removable load bearing anything on a removable anything else… 🤷‍♂️

Jeep recommends against attaching crossbars at the front but there are several aftermarket crossbars that show them attached there.
I have the Jeep crossbars on my 2-door which means they're pretty close together for a 12' kayak or paddle board. But it's fine with bow and stern lines attached.

While it is tempting to mount the front load bar on the removable freedom panels, I would reconsider this option. Weight isn't the issue. Aerodynamic lifting forces can be quite high with a rooftop cargo box.
