Rocky Gap main line looking for peeps

Hey, new to the forums here, but been trailing all over the Vegas / Henderson area in my Wrangler.

Looking for a few folks to hit up Rocky Gap , not even looking to hit any of the optional washes , but mainly just want to be able to spot each other on the main trail/mandatory rock garden to earn our Jeep badges of honor -

I usually go out on Saturday mornings around 9-10am , let me know if anyone is interested in going in the near future, thanks!!

I might be interested Sarge. I have done the trail before, and it is a fun way to spend a Saturday. I would be coming down from southern Utah and would probably bring my wife's Gladiator if we aren't doing the optional lines. I don't think I will be able to do it on the weekend of January 27th because I already have a Jeeping trip up in Wendover that is probably going to be that weekend.

I have a CB and GMRS in my Jeep, but only a GMRS in my wife's Jeep. I do have a handheld CB but have only been able to receive with it the one time I tried to use it in Moab. It just has the rubber ducky antenna that doesn't transmit outside of the vehicle very well.

Oh, gotcha, I just dated myself lol, I googled and realized that is the new type of radio instead of cbs ...GMRS looks like what I was thinking - my buddy had some and was just gauging what other people use before buying anything...

Yah, that is why I would bring the wife's Gladiator. Fun on a trail is proportional to how much challenge it is. A moderate trail is actually more fun with a moderate Jeep. A more difficult trail is more fun with a bigger Jeep.

I have both radios in my Jeep because I am an associate member of the Red Rock 4-Wheelers in Moab, and that is what they use. EVERYONE else uses GMRS. The handheld GMRS radios actually work pretty well, and they're cheap. If you don't have a radio that is what I would get.

Thanks for the advice - I will get a GMRS handheld, seems easiest and I can get two so I have a backup. Feel free to PM me for my digits when you are ready to set a date on Rocky - if you want to bring your rig and do some of the optional washes I don't mind spotting you - would love to see you take on that split rock everyone gets hung up on

fun trail with great views. if you dont go on the optional lines this trial is like a 3 at max. you can check out our post in the So Cal staging area from a couple months ago. We had one guy make all the lines. every the notch with the help of his winch. Even got a bronco through most of it. LOL have a great trip. def check out the easy optional lines

Ok, I heard some horror stories about the optional washes , but maybe that was at the notch ! Once I get through the main line I will try the options. Its just the "unknown" .... And I have watched vids, but still hard to tell until I stand there and see how things are. Are you in Cali? Not a long drive over the hill

Sarge, let's do it this Saturday if you can. I need a break from the great white north, and my cell phone weather app says it is supposed to be 60 F and sunny in Vegas on Saturday.
