I tried searching on google and on the forum. I also realize this may be a stupid question. But my ocd is going crazy.

I was changing out the shocks on my jeep this weekend and snapped the lower rear bolt on one of the shocks. Went to the Jeep dealership and was told they did not have any replacements available.

Well after several hours I found an M12x175x80. It is a 10.9 rating. Replacement washers and nuts as well.

My question is as this is my daily should I be worried about the difference or should I just send it?

Thanks

This time make sure not to over torque the darn thing... I don't know what you did to snap the bolt but you went way way too far. Shocks don't need a bunch of torque. As long as the bolt fits and you don't snap it off it'll be fine.

Yeah I’m an idiot and misread the torque chart I was looking at. It was definitely my own fault and I had to lower all the other levels. Thank god I didn’t break more honestly.

I’d be worried about the ones that were over torqued and not replaced. If you went way over those bolts may be stretched already. What do you go to?

When I put on lower shock mount / LCA skids I had to replace the bolts. The metric stuff is hard to find but a grade 8 (NOT grade 8.8) is considered equivalent.

This is what I went with for LCA and shock bolts.

I think you’d only need the 1/2”-20 thread 3” long for shocks with no added skids.
