I'm in the market for a 3.0 PCM. I have a friend of a friend who has a junkyard in the area. The guy has a 2.0 on his lot that he's parting out.

I haven't contacted him yet, but I'm wondering, even though the 3.0 and the 2.0 engines have different PCM's, can you use them interchangeably as long as the cloning process is applied? Is there anything that would differ internally that would not allow me to use a 2.0 PCM on a 3.0 EcoDiesel, or would the internal workings be the same?

I appreciate any information or help you guys can give me with this. I've been looking up for the last 2 hours to see if anything is actually different about them other than the casing around the computer, but there's not really any detailed info out there about this which I have found.

Appreciate, Greg

No, the 2..0 gas and 3.0 diesel PCMs are entirely different.
Very uncommon to see shared engine controllers across any gas and diesel applications in the domestic world.
