Passanger Airbag indicator above mirror.

So I knew that without anyone sitting in the front passanger seat the airbag indicator would be off, but when my wife who weigh in about 155 sits in the seat the indicator is still off.

This is in a newly acquired 2018 JLU Sport S.

How is it supposed to work.?

Still off when you are driving at speeds?
Then I think a visit to the dealer is on the agenda.

I screwed up and was referring to the airbag indicator.

The indicator will come on in two circumstances.
1. There is a problem with the passenger airbag.
2. There is a a weight under 65 pounds in the passenger seat. This is a safety feature if a small child is sitting there, so the airbag does not deploy and hurt them.

its for when you have someone much lighter than that in the front seat. Say your wife was really petite, and weighed only 100 Lbs, then your airbag would disable and the indicator would light up. At least that's how its supposed to work.
