Ordered Bumpers From JCR

So today I ordered a Crusader front bumper , Crusader Mid with rear bumper , Front bumper skid and Shied gate swing ( Tire carrier ) from JCR Offroad in Portage Michigan. Hopefully they will be ready soon and I can get it all installed!

Are there any cons to having a stubby bumper? I would eventually like to get a steel bumper with a winch, but I dont really know enough about them to make up my mind on full size versus stubby. Is it just a weight reduction and looks?

Pictured is the crusader, which is a mid bumper. I do a lot of off-roading, but only some rock crawling. I wanted to save some weight over a full length bumper and needed a place for a winch. I also think the full width are big and ugly. The shorter the bumper the more out of the way it is for the tires and potential boulders. It does leave you open to damage from car crashes. I doubt there is any weight reduction, I was shocked how light and poor quality the plastic bumper was.
So you see, as in most things, form and function both come into play.
