I have a 100lb English lab and I’m planning a cross country trip. 4 door Rubicon X . Was wondering if anyone has experience or opinions (good or bad) regarding hitch mount foldable steps. Ideally I’m looking for something that is easy to fold / deploy as opposed to pulling a ramp or set of steps out all the time. It would be nice to have something floor mounted in the rear that just slid out but I have not seen anything like that

I ordered a dog ramp off Amazon. ( I have a four door jeep)
it folds onto itself in 3 sections. About 3’ by 3’ when folded.
6’ when unfolded.
lay it on tail gate so dogs can go in and out of rear compartment.

as close to a slide out ramp as you can get.

I’ve used a hitch step on long trips and they’re awesome for stuff like that. Makes getting a big dog in and out way easier without having to haul a ramp.
Look for one that folds down with a single motion and has a solid platform — cheaper ones can flop around and rattle.
They don’t slide out like a drawer, but the ones that swing down from the hitch are quick and simple, no extra tools once installed.

I have used these side steps off Amazon but by far the best option I just discovered and purchased is the slide step that fits in a trailer hitch. Pictures enclosed
