I took my 2023 Jeep Rubicon for an oil change on Saturday, yesterday my engine light came on and my Jeep stalled. I found out the Jeep dealership did not place cap back on, oil was everywhere and there was no oil left. Dealership is trying to act as if that’s not a big deal and once they clean it up the Jeep will be perfect. I am very concerned and scared. Any advice on what I should look for, questions I need to ask??? This is crazy!!

Sorry to read about this episode, Shontae.

From this point forward, document everything, beginning with the date, time and place that you observed your Jeep stalling due to oil loss. Take photos of the underhood mess for future reference. Record the name(s) of those dealer staff with whom you speak, and the subject of your conversations. Don't mention the word "attorney", ever, unless you've actually retained one. Hearing that word will cause virtually everyone you speak with to shift into radio silence.

Let the dealer have the opportunity to make things right. If they don't, or if they appear to be stalling, then you can figure out your next move.

-------------

Oil is the very lifeblood of an engine. Even allowing it to be lower than it should be (as per the reading on the dipstick) is something to be avoided. Wholesale loss of all the oil in the sump, as you mention has occurred, is absolutely a serious matter that requires investigation to determine if significant and/or permanent engine damage has occurred. This knowledge should inform how you proceed here. Said differently, light a fire under every individual who says it's not a big deal. It is.

Best of luck with the resolution process.

Thank you, I have taken videos, photos and did all that you mentioned and didn’t speak of attorney. The dealership manager said he looked at store video and saw that the technician didn’t place the top on

Mm. That could serve as a de facto admission of liability. Let us know if and/or how they follow through with addressing the fallout of that simple omission.

Everything said above is 100% true. Continue to document everything. The fact that the dealer already admitted fault should work in your favor no matter what happens. Hopefully they can and will make things right. Let us know how it turns out! ?
