All new to the forum so excuse me if this has already been discussed. I just installed a bumper with a tire carrier on our 2023 Jeep JL and went to put the spare tire on (35" tire w/ Aftermarket 18x9 +1 offset wheel). The problem is the wheel studs are to short to safely hold the tire on. This bumper with the tire carrier has bolts that are tig welded on :( . So doing some research several people have mentioned the dorman longer studs, but those are pressed in it looks like. So can i knock out the current ones i have and press in the dorman brand? Or do I need to come up with a longer bolt that I can bolt on.. So confused by this.. lol . Anyone run into the same issue with needing to replace the wheel studs for longer ones and what route did you take? Any help and if you have pics that would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry no pics yet i can get some tonight but the tire doesnt seem to be hitting the tailgate or the snubbers. Just that the bolts on the carrier itself are to short and only allows for very little thread for the nut to go on. Looks like the factory wheel will fit fine, but not the aftermarket wheel and tire combo.

do yourself a favor and return that POS. it has zero reviews. YOU are the guinea pig. just looking at the photo it looks like the tire will bottom out on the arm before the wheel will mount all the way. and the studs look short. that thing HAS to be a piece of junk and will end up rattling like crazy if not falling apart. RUN, do not walk, to the UPS store to return that thing. there is no way a legit bumper tire carrier will cost $378.

heres the link for people to see it

do your research before buying parts. unless youre comfortable being the guinea pig, ESPECIALLY on amazon products.

a decent bumper mounted tire carrier runs at least $1k+. often $2k for a GOOD one.

for a 35, you dont really need one. but if your wheel/tire combo is on the heavier side, i would recommend this one. i just installed one myself for my 37".

not super difficult to install as long as you can do moderate wrenching. have a friend who can help. its cheap and its heavy duty!

you may need to relocate your spare tire upwards if you have a stock bumper.
this is the matching RR tire mount
https://www.quadratec.com/p/rugged-ridge/spartacus-hd-wheel-mount-jeep-wrangler-jl-11546.57

but you can get just about any spare relocation mount for $100 and will work with that hinge.

I don't necessarily disagree with Steve, but since it's already on. 5x5 wheel spacer the distance you need, plus you'll probably have to fab a camera mount extension.

Pig-Pin- I appreciate all the insight. Ya usually not one to be the guinea pig but after buying the wheels, tires, and lift etc... I was looking for a quick cost efficient bumper so the wife would have a spare when needed. As far as returning it-- Too late already installed it !

The tire carrier does adjust out to accommodate the larger tires, just the studs are too short. This will most likely be swapped out down the road.

GatorB8- Appreciate the wheel spacer idea.
No Problem, I had to adjust the one on my trailer to work, and they worked like a charm.

I got a two pack of Rough Country's on Amazon for about $50.

I've got a couple old pics from the trailer. I put the assembly together on the ground, then could identify any adjustment needed before installing.

Thanks. Did it from scratch cause all the off road campers were 14 month lead times when I started. Now with the lead time back down I'd order one in a heartbeat, lol.
