I have a rubicon ordered, and decided I might want to go with bfg 35’s instead of the included 33’s. I reached out to my dealer to inquire if they would consider switching me out for the 35’s and charging the difference. The answer was yes, for a charge to me of $850. This seems a bit high to me, since I cross-referenced with a local tire retailer and it could be done for a few hundred or so more than that. Am I thinking correctly, or missing something?

I think you will need five new tires. I am paying $1100 for a set of five 315/70R17C with tradein. I think i am getting ~$400 trade in for old tires as tradein. I have told the shop that I will try to sell them on my own but if i have a fallback plan

That’s a great point, Clay. Totally flaked out on that point. That’s what’s so great about this place, thanks! So, now it’s:

Another point to consider. C rated tires have nicer ride and are $20 cheaper. You are looking at E rated tires.

I’ll definately want C rated. This tire place does not have them. So, I’m thinking based on the price of the 35’s being bought outright, I’m getting about $600 for my 33’s. Would I do better just trying to sell them myself?

I also understand the dealer is probably factoring in labor, which is fine, I get that.

You probably can. I am not sure

I am only getting ~$400 from shop but I will try to sell them for $700 myself first

I guess while I’m at it, I’ll ask if anyone is currently running this tire without a lift. If so, how is it on pavement? Did you have any experience with the 33” for comparison?
