Just bought Mopar wheel locks (82215711). Installed them, and sat down to read instructions (i know, I know). The last line of the instructions says: "Note: Mopar wheel locks are not to be used with steel spare wheels".
I have a JL Sport... all the wheels are steel (and I like them!).
Can anybody here qualified to give advice help me, and all the other steel spare wheel owners?
Thanks!

Just make sure the bottom of the lug matches what you have now. I think ACORN is what you need. Can't think of any other reason not to use the MOPAR wheel locks. I thought it CAME WITH ONE on the spare?!? Mine did...

I bought the same but only for the spare tire. I have a 2018 JL Sport, but with aluminum rims. Its possible the Mopar locks are cone style which are not compatible with steel rims? Compare your stock lug nuts with the new locking nuts. Is the profile that touches the rim exactly the same? If not, there is your answer.

Thanks for the advice! Went out, took a lug nut and a lock off, and compared slopes of the contact area of each, and they are the same. Weird. And why the 'do not use' rule only for spare tires... argh!

Could it have something to do with the thickness of the wheels? The lug area would be much thicker on an alloy rim as opposed to the thinner steel rim. I'm not sure why that would make a difference on the tire carrier, but that's the only major difference between the alloy and steel wheels.
