I’m on Jeep #4 and I opted to get most of my upgrades from the factory (sliders, steel bumpers, winch, hinge gate reinforcement) and only have plans for a Mopar lift and some Methods wrapped in 35s. Got the 4:88 gearing so mayyybe I’ll do 37s, but I feel like 35s are the sweet spot for this beast.
I’ve kept my mods rather simple. I agree you can get to far into it. I have a simple lift 3.5” and 37’s with the correct gearing for the tire size. I plan on keeping the 3.6L stock forever.
I like all of the different wrangler models I have had and each of them I have made mods to. Being retired military and living all over the great USA I made mods that were sensible to the region I was living in at the time. My current JLUR is lifted, I run 35s on 17 inch wheels, it has sliders with steps that drop down with open door (short wife), skid plates, tail gate reinforcements and steering updates. Don't need to do much of anything else as my rig does everything I have asked it to. Currently on number 6
Didn't read the whole thread, but I had an '07 JKUX that I put a 4" lift and 37s on. Regretted it, sucked as a daily driver and even worse on road trips. Learned my lesson, whished I'd just bought a Rubicon and left it stock. Did that with my '19JLUR and '22 Bronco Badsquatch. If you can be happy with what the factory does, go for it and leave it as stock as possible. I love playing around with cosmetic mods and not worrying about suspension geometry and gearing
