Since @Smarrtazz reminded me of what a pedantic prick I am for starting this thread , incorrect use of semicolons must be added to my list of peeves. If your topic reply has, let’s say, more than one you’re surely not using them correctly. (Why use them at all, anyway?)

To wit: Semicolons can replace the period between two closely related independent clauses.
