Light through the speedo

This is a brand new JL. At on or about 40 mph the speedometer needle moves just so, that the bright orange light from behind the dial plate shines through what appears to be a gap in the needle mount. Very annoying. All is good at any other speed: no light leakage.

It's a "feature" and exists on the early models too like my 2019. You can disassemble the cluster and tape over it or you can live with it. I don't even notice it anymore but it was annoying at first.

Would they fix it under warranty? I am too lazy to go to the dealer just for that.

There isn't a fix from the dealer. The part is designed with that small hole that unfortunately aligns with a light from behind the panel.

Is there the functional purpose of that hole or is it just a poor fitting? Is it a big deal to take the instrument cluster apart?
