My wife needs to learn how to use 4 lo and rear locker before our trip to Moab in August, so we’re going to Cleghorn Tuesday morning. I know most people have normal jobs with weekends off, but I figured I’d still toss out an invite to anyone who wants to tag along. Also have a buddy with a recently lifted Tacoma who’s supposed to go, although being a Toyota guy he will probably flake out on me. I’ll likely be out there around 9, if anyone wants to tag along feel free to PM me and we’ll work it out.

I have a Sahara stock height on 28 bf’s. Capable enough to hang with what you’re planning?

Absolutely. Cleghorn is nice in the fact that it’s a fire road with lots of optional off shoots, so you can literally drive the whole thing and not hit a single one if you don’t want to.

Hmm maybe. According to ACT website I'm supposed to put 300-500 miles on my new clutch before doing anything crazy with it.

I don't think I'd hit all of the offshoots as I want to take it easy but also want to test the new clutch before I hit Colorado.

I probably won’t hit all the offshoots either, just enough to get mama used to her new setup. I’m not going to win any prizes that’s for sure 😂

@Thebyrd22 if you’re still planning on going PM me your number and we’ll get everything sorted out 👍🏻

Should be an interesting run with a JT Diesel, a brand new JLU Willys, a Tacoma, a stock Sahara, maybe a Bronco, and a Sad Robot 😂

Definitely the main fire road (90% can be run in 2WD, TBH).

Second this, but you may want to test your rig on Edison hill and some of the climbs with moguls after it, just know that some of them can be deep in places and you could be on 3 (maybe 2?) wheels in some spots. I have a Rubicon on stock lift and 33’s and it surprised me and some in my group how well it handled them.

I just ran Cleghorn last Saturday. The climbs were fine, but some of the downhill offshoots found after the ‘lunch spot with boulders and a view cul-de-sac’ (34.29606, -117.41911) got very off-camber and/or had tricky drop-ins. (Some might say “tippy”. 🤖 )

I would not try Deadman’s Drop/The Chute (34.29066, -117.39837) without 35’s—the boulder at the end is unforgiving (I skipped it, YMMV).

We called it a day after a series of off-camber offshoots (where I saw 30 deg. on my inclinometer) and wound up here: 34.29298, -117.38137

I shaved my mirror (pulled in) and rear fender running out clearance tipped against the wall…

…but the guy behind me took a different line, with a different result. (He wanted to avoid what I did.)

He actually had less damage, with steel fenders and more tire poke.

Good times. 😁

Y’all enjoy. 👍

Good to hear of the places to avoid. I have zero plans of doing the chute, so hopefully no other issues arise prior to that.

Oof this must be the offshoot right after The Chute. I can't picture how that happened though. If anything when going down you are leaning driver right into the wall.

Yeah I think they went straight at the punch bowl instead of going left. We… are going left 😂

🎢 All good fun until about here (☠ marker): https://maps.app.goo.gl/LVUvLGqNJZC7bpuZA?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy …then it got a bit fatiguing after that.

The heat and post-lunch prob didn't help. 😬

The completist in me wants to still ‘play the back 9’ on Cleghorn someday.
