The 392 was never intended to sell in any kind of volume. FCA has been struggling to meet CAFE requirements for a number of years; selling lots of Wrangler V8s would only make the problem worse.

So they decided to drop the 392 into Wrangler but offer it only in limited numbers as a halo vehicle, and came up with a very steep price to make sure 392 remains relatively exclusive.

Had Jeep really wanted to offer a V8 across the entire Wrangler lineup, they would have used the 5.7 HEMI instead, and given it a more attainable price. But then, that was never the intent.
oh it will. As much as I love the gas Engines, the new generations do not love their cars and engines like previous ones.

Gen Z could care less about a V8 let alone even know what that is.

Again, it’s a goner. Sooner or later.

They just shit canned the Cherokee which was Fiat based. ?

You make no sense.
Um, they're all Fiat based. Breaking News: Fiat bought them! And it's all gone downhill from there.

To be fair, not all are Fiat-based. The Fiats are Mazda-based... ?

Jeep should have offered the 5.7 Hemi in the JL. Would have been a perfect engine for the platform and much less high strung than the 6.4. The fact that they came out with the 6.4, and not the 5.7, tells you everything you need to know. Jeep decided they could sell a boutique/gonzo 6.4 V8 for insane prices, rather than offer the 5.7 as a modest (say $3,500, as in the GC a few years ago) upgrade.

Now, of course, the V8 is gone from the GC and you can only get a Trailhawk as a 4xe.

As a great man once said, life moves pretty fast.
I absolutely agree that the 5.7 would be a nice compromise. You can still get the 5.7 in the new GC, just not the 392. Not sure if they will build a SRT version of the GC or not.

I have had the regular 392 and the Trackhawk in the older GC. They were fun, but for the money there were better finished choices out there. I ended up going with a M5 for a bit more spend and get the newer GCL for the wife. The new GCL is much more refined overall and I probably would buy one in a SRT package if they offer it.

Moral of the story, 5.7 would be a sweet option in the JL and when my JL gets more mileage on it, I may look to swap one in.
