JLU 2019 Rattle in Tailgate Area

so I believe @Arterius2 may be right here. I drove with the rear window open fully and the sound went away. So I'll grab some teflon tape locally then order the amazon stuff.

Now is there a fix from the dealer as well? I'm sure that over time the tape will no longer work. Obviously something shifted/adjusted in the last 500km. I have a slighly larger tire than stock, just wider than stock, no 35 or anything. No offroading either, just highway kms.

Stopped rattling after a hard shut. Also read putting silicone grease on the seal helps. Will go there before taping.

i’ve been having the same issue (here in canada as well!) and i opted to try the tape.. it definitely helped the noise but didnt get rid of it completely! Whats your status on this? Have you fixed it?

Yes I did. So I can’t narrow it down fully but here is what I did. I changed my tires so the rubber stoppers didn’t touch the spare, so I followed a hack on here to create extenders. Then did the electrical tape on the metal loop on the frame to quiet the swing door. Fixed!

I tried the grease tape and that seemed to fix it. I then installed a 35" and it was more of a rattle noise. I adjusted the latch on the inside of the tailgate door and this fixed the issue.

How do you adjust the latch? I have that rattle when i go a distance in first gear. (My driveway is long!) Applied grease on the window rubber, took the noise away for about 2 weeks but now it's back.

You see the striker circled in yellow? Simply loosen the bolts a little to move it either up and down or maybe even left or right if you have to. I’d recommend putting some kind of mark or tape of where it originally is just in case you aren’t able to adjust it to your needs. This solved the loud rattle for me after installing the 35.

if you’re only experiencing a kinda squeaky noise then the grease tape should do it tbh.

@geem03 id recommend getting the grease tape and put it along the top of the tailgate for the squeaky sound if you’re getting it.

Anyone know of a way to test to see if it is the tailgate that rattles? I guess I don’t want to mess with the hinges if it isn’t the issue.
