Hey , m about to receive my first wrangler, getting the jl 2024 sport 4 door 2.0, coming from driving sports hatches all my life. Trying to get knowledgeable and built the best setup fit to my needs. Would really appreciate you experts and experienced jeepers point of view.
Until now my build will be including a teraflex 2.5 inch lift kit, falcon sp2 3.3 adjustable suspension, mopar steel bumpers. However the confusion falls in the tires.
I want to have 35s BF KO2 however everyone is telling me its better to have 33s instead given it will be my daily commuter and might jump into desert dunes every weekend or another.

Would the 35s require regearing on the setup m installing? Do i lose alot of power on 35s given ill be roaming alot on highways during my day? And fuel economy will be that bad?

Thanks alot for your opinions would love to hear from you guys

I have a 2018 JLU Sport S with Rock Krawler 2.5" Adventure Series lift. Its the full kit that includes their shocks, bump stops, etc. Also has Mickey Thompson ATZ P3s (discontinued). The original tires were 38 pounds each. These are 64 I believe. Each wheel/tire combo are 96 pounds, as I also bought some used Discount Tire brand wheels, 17x8.5". I have the stock gearing.

At 67ish and below, I see 8th gear pretty frequent. When I start pushing 70, I see 8th gear on flat hwy. At around 72 and above, all I see is 7th gear, but its also only at about 2krpm when in 7th.

The 2.0T with etorque doesn't struggle at all, partial acceleration, wide open throttle, etc. Its not as eyebrow raising as it was on the stock 31's. That being said, It will still zip through the gears at full pedal and willingly accelerate to cruising speed at part throttle. Not lazily either.

I've not hand calculated, but the wish-o-meter on the dash says I get about 21mpg on the hwy when at 65-70mph. When it was stock, I hand calculated at 65-70 on an approximate 190 mile highway trip and got 26.5. On the return trip at 75mph it hand calculated to 25.4. I'd imagine if I hand calculated with the 35's, it'd probably be about 20mpg at 65mph.

Also, as far as capability with the tires, they're mostly all pretty capable. Some will have certain characteristics that are more beneficial in certain scenarios. I was fortunate enough to go with a friend to trail with Lite Brite at MERUS in Texas a couple years ago. Most of the rigs in our group were fairly well built, though some met the requirement of 37's with front/rear lockers. These requirements were set by the event managers for this particular group that would be doing black diamond and double diamond trails.

While a few of the rigs had the "sticky" Mickeys, others had KO2s, Nitto AT tires, Toyo AT Tires, some MT tires, etc. Every one of them made it over the same crazy obstacles. The only struggle was a guy without hydro steer. Traction was never his issue. Turning his tires on obstacles was.

Putting 35/12.50’s on a Sport especially for mostly on road driving being a bit of a weight wienie wouldn’t hurt. Toyo AT3 is the lightest 3peak I could find at 59 lbs. 5lbs lighter, also better wet, and not near the rock magnet of KO2’s. Goodyear Wrangler is lighter but not 3peak. KO3’s ? haven’t seen enough but threads are available.

I did the mopar lift on my 2019 Sahara 2.0 etorque with 35" tires. I only saw sixth gear with the auto on the freeway with stock gears. I went with 4.88 thinking I might to to 37"s. Love the performance with the 4.88's!
