I just got a new cb radio set up for my new JK (decided against the JL), and I am getting weird SWR readings. I have a uniden 510, 3 ft fire stick, and the rugged ridge spare tire mount.
I was getting off the chart SWR in every channel at first, so I ground off the powder coating on the mount, which is when it got really weird. Did a reading on channel 20 last night, came in at 2.0. Not great but tolerable. Did the reading again, 3.0. So I said let me check the ends of the range, goes up to about 4.5 on channel 40, but dips down to 2 on channel 1.
So I a getting 2.0 on channel 1, 3.0 on channel 20, and 4.5 on channel 40, which makes no sense to me because I always read middle of the dial would be best, and get worse as u go to the end.
Any thoughts?
