Alright folks...officially freakin’ the fck out.

Not saying this is related to programmer issue...but, I could use some assistance...ASAP!

My Jeep won’t start, multiple error messages, dings, internal gauges are going off, windshield wipers are going...a clear electrical issue has occurred.

I’ve disco the battery and upon reconnect, it’s still doing it.

WTF.

Please help!

Check fuses are all seated?
Tested and/or charged the battery? Low battery voltage wreaks havoc on these computerized cars.

Checking fuses now.
Testing batt next.
I wish I could upload the video I took. Drove it yesterday (approx 120 miles) went to drive it just now and it just freaked out.
Brake seemed super stiff, then the electronics started buggin’ out.
Now when I connect batt, it goes right back into gauges flashing, wipers going, clicks and dings, won’t unlock....nothing.

UPDATE:

Checked fuses...nothing noted.

Disco'd/Reconnected battery....Jeep was still freakin' out.

Tested batt...dead :angry::puke::swear:

Jumped Jeep...started up and now seems to be holding charge.

I do however have a "Stop/Start Not Ready Battery Charging" indication but am hoping this goes away after a go for drive this AM.

That said....

I cannot with absolute certainty say that a programmer caused a drain on my batt but I had previously noted the following "hiccups" or "glitches" since I had the programmer installed. I should also mention that my programmer is (was) connected 100% of the time.

- Radio shutoff (twice)

- EVIC screen changed from startup, shutdown, to startup (i.e., startup/shutdown = speedometer, next startup = oil temp screen)

- Batt died

Does any of that indicate that something from the programmer (being connected 100% of the time) caused a slow drain on my batt??? IDK...maybe, maybe not :whatsgoingon:

I read on the forum that other members have experienced a dead batt and similar issues as to what I experienced but don't know if they have a programmer (of some kind) or not. This may have happened to me regardless of the programmer...idk.

The automatic turn off of the ESS, live features, etc isn't enough of a "must have" for me to leave the programmer installed 100% of the time...call it piece of mind, a gut feeling, whatever...I'm not willing to go through being stranded somewhere and having to call roadside, a friend or asking some stranger to jump my brand new Jeep just so I can have ESS automatically disabled at startup.

I'll continue to monitor the situation but wanted to provide a rundown of my experience in case there is someone out there that has experienced the same OR worse, happens to them and they have ZERO fckin' clue our Jeeps will freak the fck out when the batt dies.

Many here have the TazerJL installed. Some have had it installed for 2 months plus. No one with a TazerJL has reported any issues such as yours. Chances of the issue you're having being TazerJL related are slim to none.

Also, do know that the TazerJL automatically goes into sleep mode... In 2 months of use, I have never seen my TazerJL not go into sleep mode automatically. My TazerJL and companion module are plugged in all the time.

Suggest you stop playing JL auto tech and or detective!

Unmarry the TazerJL, then remove it and the companion, SWG Bypass module. After you do this, make an appointment with a Jeep service department and have your vehicle checked over. Do NOT say a word about a programmer being attached. IF they are any point come back and ask you if you have been using a programmer, just say daaaah, a programmer, no I have not..

In closing, it is not unusual for a vehicle to have an issue. Get it checked out. Others here have reported the same issue you are having. None having the issue had been using a programmer.
Your JL has an issue, get it checked/fixed.

You are right...no one that I've seen on the forum has reported any issues (BOLD) such as mine...does that mean that no one has had issues or hiccups...nope (BOLD). That said, you yourself reported some hiccups

To be clear, I specifically said that I cannot definitively say that a programmer caused my issues...ONLY that the issues I've mentioned surfaced after install. If I knew that the programmer was the culprit...I'd say it.

Your recommendation (last para) is noted...thanks for that. Your "suggest" comment...no need for that sir, think we all care about our Jeeps and want them to work as they should.

Suggest you leave the emotion out of your post...being defensive isn't helpful to anyone.

Would like to add that now, not in three hours or tomorrow, do get the TazerJL unmarried and the TazerJL and the companion SWG module removed.

You want to do this before your JL lets say goes dead in the water so to speak and then you will be having the vehicle towed to the dealership with the programmer married to the JL

Anytime you, or anyone has such open issues with their JL, it is undoubtedly best to get any such add on's out of the quotient.

@BlueBlood

No emotion at all here by me. You are being the drama queen.

You are the one that is shooting off from the hip so to speak in regard to an add on that you know little about..

Get the vehicle checked / fixed. Enough with the drama.

There have been a few posts on here about that very problem without a programmer involved. There is probably a messed up fuse for the ESS or a bad ground and I think I remember something about a bad ESS relay. Just unmarry the Tazer while you can and have it checked out by the dealer.

My JLR wouldn’t start yesterday with 300 miles on it. It is a 6/18 manufacture date. What I saw

-The display said to press on brake
-The start button was locked in the off position. You could not further it past that like you can normally without the engine running
-the transmission selector was illuminated
-The locks were operating normally
-No amount of additional pressure on the brakes worked. The brake did seem more firm. I will check the difference later on that.

What fixed it -> took the three negative battery leads off disconnecting all power to the car. Put it back and everything worked fine. I have started it 10 more times since with no issue. Smells like a malfunction of a sensor or some path through the code managing the system. In any case, can’t replicate it for now.

The real issue now is absolutely no trust in this car when something as simple as the ignition wouldn’t work

Confirmed that the brake pedal feel was rock hard when it wouldn’t start compared to a normal start which is soft and has travel - that must be a key symptom. I will send all this information to service and see if they can match it up with a root cause.

This happen to me at 400ish miles. I pressed the button several times without pressing the break and then with break and it started.

How did everything shake out for you in the long run?

I had a very similar experience to your original post occur for me yesterday on my 2020 JLUR (owned since 8/2019). It had only been sitting 3 or 4 days (and had many stints in the past where it sat longer than that with no issues).

A few hours later I went to try again and it was completely dead / unresponsive.

Right now my plan is to attempt to charge/jump it with another vehicle and then drive to the dealer.

I also have a taser lite, so un-marrying that will be another critical step before heading to the dealer. But can't do that with a completely dead battery. Had the taser plugged in constantly since January and never an issue.

PS:
I didn't have time to fully debug the problem yesterday because the hard top is off and hoisted above the hood. I don't have enough clearance to open the hood and access the battery. It looks like I'll have to do this trick to put it in neutral and then push it out of the garage to get to the battery.
