I have searched and searched and not been able to find the answer to my problem. Please excuse me if this has been addressed.

Situation - purchased a 7" OEM display to replace my 5" unit

Problem - Have the original VIN from the previous owner in order to get the "anti thief code". Keyed in the 4 digit theft code (provided by the dealer) and STILL DOES NOT WORK OR ACCEPT THE CODE.

Question - will a flash update to the jeep correct this problem?

Any other suggestions are much appreciated. Hard to believe that this has not been a bigger problem for others.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Probably got the wrong 4 number code, mine worked fine w/ the code provided when I got mine from a member on the site (member provided the code, not a dealer)

Since you got the code from the dealer I'd just go back there and have them take a look, or double check that code again.

Where would the original owner find the code?
From the dealer, try asking the service manager to look up the code. Sometimes the Parts guy can get it, sometimes it’s the Service Dept.

eta: you only have three tries and then you have to wait 30 minutes of run time ie. The radio must be powered on.

I tried the service dept and the parts dept. Went to 2 different dealers and still can’t get it to work.

If you can contact the original owner and have them check with their dealer, some of them don’t know what you are asking for or they may not give it out to someone who is not the original owner.
When I bought my 7 inch radio the owner had to ask a couple different people at his dealer to get the right code. They kept giving him the “pin” number for his account with Jeep.
