Interesting but IMHO (and also being very frank) it's getting harder and harder to donate to these types of causes when the damage was actually (at least partially) caused by the guberment itself. It's pretty unnerving and absurd how the guberment can hand out $100 Billion foreign aid packages (and run up the national debt) as though money grows on trees... while it can't be bothered to pay for things it played a part in damaging...?...smh.While I was down there, I learned Cape Hatteras National Seashore needs help. The summary sentence is recent hurricane erosion has uncovered years of military use at the old lighthouse site which was not cleaned up properly. If you want to read more and do something to help, the Buxton and NPS sites are as good a place to start as any.
Those are some sweet classic pics! Love that area. Here’s a recent pic from our vacation a couple years ago.I used to love going to OBX way back in the '70's-80's.
Here's a picture of the Lighthouse before it was moved to its current location, and one of the Ocracoke Lighthouse.

I can only imagine what the place would have been like back in those days. Certainly different than today, I’m sure. Trying to convince some Jeep friends to go back up there in September for our annual Fall trip?. Well actually, I just need to convince the 6 non Jeep people to get on board with the 6 Jeep people ?I think my pictures are from summer of '76. Great times, great memories.
Thanks. I have only been on the beach there at Hatteras once with my XTerra. I was solo and had nobody to follow as a guide... There's definitely a learning curve. I stopped dumping the air at 25 psi and got stuck heading into the beach. Fortunately it was quiet and I didn't block anyone driving onto or off the beach but that was an anxious few minutes. I really didn't want to call a tow truck. ?. Once I lowered them all to 20 I was able to get around ok. Definitely a weird ride. Ha25 worked for me - 15 might have been a better choice, I fishtailed a bit.
Bigger tires would give you more surface area coverage, but there are a lot of tips for sand driving: keep your momentum in the thick stuff, stay in existing tire tracks, park downhill, do not spin your tires, carry a traction board and a shovel, and don't drive in the water. I am sure there are other suggestions.Thanks. I have only been on the beach there at Hatteras once with my XTerra. I was solo and had nobody to follow as a guide... Probably a dumb question but I guess the tire size also plays a role in the amount of pressure you run?
