I’ve searched through the forums and couldn’t find a post that answered my questions:

Has anyone painted their hardtop?

If so, was it done professionally or?

My intent is to paint my factory black hardtop to a color closer to the factory soft top as I have always liked the tan top offerings byJeep.

The Pictures are for reference

I had my 1996 Bronco hardtop painted professionally. It was sanded smooth and painted, looked like it was steel like the rest of the body and looked fantastic. It was less than 1000.

I just have pin stripes on mine, done semi professional ?

You should see if you could get it painted with a tan rhino liner, that'd be pretty sweet especially if you plan on wheeling it!

Bed liner was what I had in mind as well, I think it would wear well and also return some texture to the roof keeping the "stock" look?

Probably more texture in the bedliner but personally I think that would look better than doing a basecoat and Clearcoat over the rough hard top surface. Just my opinion though!

Pay the extra and get it LineX'd. They can colour match and it will look a lot better than hand bombing it. You'd need at least 3 coats of Duplicolour bedliner so you would be "close" in cost.
